Clifford Bay 2011 Sauvignon Blanc

Its been a while since I have reviewed a wine.  I think I have finally figured out how I want to review them.  There will be up to 10 points possible for possible for taste, up to 5 for color, and 5 for price.  This wine is from my favorite region for Sauvignon Blanc.  New Zealand in my opinion is the best budget white wine region.  This Clifford Bay 2011 Sauvignon Blanc is a great Budget Conoisseur wine.  The nose is full of wet hay, fresh cut grass, apple, and pear.  The taste is great.  It starts off with a great acidity then segways into lemon and pear and has a nice apple finish.  It also has a light to medium body for mouth feel.  Taste I give it a 8.8, Color is a 4, and price is 4 out of 5.  That gives it a total of 16.8 out of 20.  This is a wine I would drink again if you should try if you like Sauvignon Blanc.

2009 Les Charmes Chardonnay Macon Lugny

White Burgundy truly is one of the great wines of the world. This amazing example is a true representation to why it is.  Les Charmes Chardonnay Macon Lugny 2009 is a tantalizing wine.  This wine has a beautiful nose that I love to see.  It is reminiscent of Marlboro New Zealand to me, or is it the other way around?  Anyway this wine has a lovely sour green apple nose with spring flowers.  It has a beautiful texture on the palate.  I love the terroir and saltiness on the palate.  It is bursting with tropical fruit and floral components.  This is a true food wine.
I give it a 9 out of 10 for flavor and a 7 out of 10 for cost.  This gives at a 16 out of a total 20 points.  This is a wine that you must seek and try.

2010 Franco Serra Barbera D'Alba

This time of the year I am find myself looking for wines for the holidays.  For the past several years I have been finding myself in the Italian section looking for great wines for the holidays.  This is a wine that I truly think is a great example of old world wine.  Franco Serra's Barbera D'Alba 2010 vintage is the holidays to me.  It has a great old world nose and palate.  It is loaded with great earthy notes, sour cherries, and a smoky cedar.  The flavor is as beautiful as the nose and matches it.  This wine is great for the holidays and it is perfect for your wallet because it is a budget friendly $11.99.

14 Hands 2009 Merlot

Wow! It's all that really needs to be said about this wine. It is a tantalizing wine from 14 Hands. It has beautiful cherries and red berries on the nose with a beautiful touch of oak. It has a nice viscous mouth feel with a nice dryness. The flavor is bright and bursting with sour cherries. The back of your palate is enticed with a beautiful touch of oak, coffee, and chocolate that leaves you wanting more. This $13 wine is an incredible wine that everyone should go out and get. It is a perfect wine for a cold night with a great piece of red meat that has been braised. I give it a 10/13. It's a must try for everyone.

1st post ; HandCraft 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon

This wonderfully crafted wine is a treat for your palate. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon an Sangiovese grapes. It has a bright nose of cherry and earthiness. This wine has a sensational velvet texture in your mouth. The complex flavors are incredible. It has a beautiful cherry barrage up front with a lovely chocolate and mocha finish. It also has a cigar box or cedar flavor that is delightful. This wine to me is fall in a bottle and should be tried by all. This wine was a budget friendly $13.99.  I would give in a 9 out of 10 points.
9/13- It is a must have wine that you should not pass up.
It was a wonderfully pleasant surprise for my first blog on the budget connoisseur.
